My brother-in-law lived in India for two years and has lots of stories about how everyone had a "monkey stick" to chase off the local monkeys.
There was also a monkey that had a pet cat it took everywhere.
I hope it's cool I'm commenting, I just couldn't resist after I read that aritcle!

The last part of the article scared me the most... they get larger and more fierce monkeys to take care of the orginal killer monkeys!!
Uh, that's really freakin' scary! Monkey sticks and larger killer monkeys don't sound like effective ways to solve this problem.
Also scary is how strikingly similar that crazed monkey looks compared to the picture of Spence below.
